Xavier Henry

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without the services of forward Xavier Henry for the rest of the preseason because of persistent issues with his surgically repaired right knee that he is now seeking to get a second opinion to further clarify the situation.

Henry is expected to travel to New York City to see Dr. Keith Pyne for a second opinion on his right knee. Following the examination he will then head to Dusseldorf, Germany, to receive Regenokine treatment from Dr. Jens Hartmann.

The treatment itself consist of a small amount of blood taken from the patient’s arm that is rotated in a centrifuge for approximately 20 minutes to isolate platelets. Then after is injected into the injured area in attempt to help stimulate reparation in the tissue.

It is a treatment that Kobe Bryant that has undergone twice in his career, and that helped him strengthen his strengthen his ailing right knee in 2011, and again in 2013.

Henry was limited to just 43 games last season, where he averaged 10.0 points and 2.7 rebounds, due to a torn ligament in his left wrist and a cartilage abnormality in his right knee. He had surgery to repair both injuries in early August.

There is no timetable for his return to the court, but the fact that he has persistent problems with his right knee is concerning for the Lakers moving forward.
