Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke teared-up during the team’s first press conference since the NFL officially approved relocation to Los Angeles earlier this week.
Kroenke said the team was privileged and happy to come back to where the franchise originated. He spoke to media and a few hundred fans in Rams gear who were chanting his name and clearly invigorated with the news their team had returned to Southern California.
The franchise owner was rewarded with cheers from Rams fans chanting, “We Love Stan.” Also in attendance were former Los Angeles Rams players Jackie Slater, Jim Everett, Lawrence McCutcheon and Wendell Tyler.
Kreonke and the Ram’s proposed $1.86 billion dollar stadium in Inglewood ends a twenty-year drought without professional football in Los Angeles. The Southern California fan base has expressed widespread excitement in welcoming back the organization to the West Coast.
There is still more left to iron out in this saga, namely the fact that both the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders each have the ability to join them as tenants or partners.
