The San Diego State and University of San Diego men’s basketball teams have agreed to play a game at Petco Park.

The game will take place Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. If there is precipitation, the teams will try again the next day.

This game is special for San Diego as it incorporates two sports that haven’t been relevant to San Diegans in quite some time (of course the game being played at Petco). The two teams also agreed to a have a home-and-home series the following four years.

This is a big deal considering San Diego’s only passion towards basketball are these two teams.

While SDSU has had more recent success, USD had its day and still has a strong following. On top of that, both teams get at least two nationally televised games per year.

The agreement, hopefully, will get more people involved in the rivalry of these two schools and produce some quality games for years to come.
