NBA Finals 2018: League admits Warriors violations missed in Game 1

The Golden State Warriors are fortunate to have won an NBA Finals Game 1 in which the team overcame LeBron James‘ 51-point masterpiece performance, especially considering forward Draymond Green‘s committed two late-game violations that were not called by the officials.

According to Yahoo Sports, Green stepped over the line on George Hill‘s final free-throw attempt with 4.7 seconds remaining and also was not called for a foul while guarding James. Green hit James across the arm with at the 12.1-second mark — an action that should have been deemed a foul but wasn’t.

James would have been sent to the line as a result instead of Hill, which could have further affected the outcome of the game.

In hindsight, there are calls in just about any NBA game that can go either way and have a significant effect on the outcome. Under the microscope of the NBA Finals, however, the stakes are higher. There should always be room for error, but with the ability to go back to the tape, those errors will be fodder for discussion at least until the teams square off again on June 6.
