Pau Gasol may have played his last game in Los Angeles Lakers’ uniform as his lingering symptoms with his latest bout with vertigo will keep out him of the final three games of the season, according to Lakers’ sideline reporter Mike Trudell.
This news does not come as much of a surprise as Gasol has missed the nine out of the last 10 games due to the illness. In the only game over that stretch the 13-year veteran did play he had nine points, seven assists and four rebounds in 28 minutes played on April 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers. He attempted to give it a go the following night but experienced another reoccurrence of the illness.
Since the second bout with vertigo, Gasol had continued to work towards making a return in the final stretch of the season but he has not progressed fair enough in recovery as doctors have ruled that it take a “few weeks” before he will be able to take the court again. However, he has been cleared to travel with the team for their final two games against the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs.
Pau Gasol is officially out for the final 3 games, as doctors think it would be “at least a couple weeks” until he’d be able to play.

With Gasol now out for the remainder of the season, it will now bring about speculation that he may have played his last game with the organization that he has spent last 6 1/2 years of his NBA career as he is set to become a free agent this upcoming offseason. This includes making the NBA Finals in the first three seasons with the team winning two of them, two All-Star game selections, and playoff appearances in five consecutive years prior to this season.
The 33-year-old has voiced his desire to return to Los Angeles next season, but that is ultimately not up to him as the organization appears to be heading the other direction with an expected roster turnover this upcoming offseason. If Gasol has played his last game as a member of the Lakers, it has been nothing short than a memorable and successful stint for him.
