The Los Angeles Lakers are set to embark on the 2018-19 season with star forward LeBron James in the mix to lead the charge.
It has pushed forward a major adjustment for the revamped roster in getting used t0 playing alongside James in order to maximize the team’s potential on the floor. During a recent interview with Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward Kevin Love divulged what he believes it takes to excel next to the four-time league MVP on the court.
“You have to follow. You have to learn a lot about that,” he said.”You have to be resilient. I had a lot of hard nights. There were dark times. But I always believed keep fighting, I was stubborn about it. And LeBron makes sure you have a chance to win every year. He’s gotten a lot of guys rings. You’re going to win at the highest level. We won and we bonded and we’re going to continue this brotherhood.”
It was a major adjustment for Love going from being the first scoring option for the Minnesota Timberwolves then going to being the third scorer for the Cavaliers. This required him to adjust to getting different looks on the floor and scoring opportunities that were normally there during his days with the Timberwolves.
On top of that, it required to him find his spots on the floor where he could be most effective while not conflicting with James in the process. This is something that the other Lakers players will have to do over the season that could see them stumble a bit out of the gate as they find their identity and what works best on both ends of the floor.
Ultimately, it’s something that will work itself out on the court this upcoming season in Los Angeles.
