The NBA Draft is still several weeks but that hasn’t stopped the prospects from this year’s crop from planning out their schedule with meetings with various teams.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, standout Washington guard Markelle Fultz is expected to interview with a handful of teams that include the Los Angeles Lakers.

Fultz isn’t expected to go through the NBA draft combine workouts this week that run from May 9 to May 14, but he will be present in Chicago to conduct interviews. He is widely regarded as one of the top-three players in this year’s draft class.

The 18-year-old spent one season at Washington where he averaged 23.2 points on 47.6 percent shooting from the field and 41.3 percent from 3-point range along with 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. Fultz saw his season end prematurely due to a knee injury. Despite that, Fultz earned All-Pac 12 First Team honors along with being selected to the All-American Third Team by several major sports news outlets.

Fultz is the first freshman since LaDrell Whitehead in the 1994-95 campaign to average at least 20.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game. He was also the nation’s top freshman scorer and the Pac-12’s overall leading scorer.

Fultz reached double figures in all but one game while setting Washington’s freshman single-season points record with 579 points and finished second for a freshman in school history in assists (148), tied for fifth in blocks (30) and fifth in steals (40).

The Lakers will have a 46.9 percent chance of retaining their top-three protected pick for this year’s draft. If the pick falls outside the top three spots in the draft order, it will go to the Philadelphia 76ers. The NBA draft lottery will be on Tuesday, May 16, at 8 p.m. ET.
