It has been a few months LeBron James made the decision to join the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency on a four-year, $153 million that has seen many in and around the league.

Ahead of the matchup against the Lakers, Golden State Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson has weighed in on the matter voicing that it was “pretty cool” to see James make the jump to Los Angeles during the offseason, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN

“I think it’s pretty cool,” Thompson said of seeing James in a Lakers jersey. “I don’t think you would have guessed it when he was with the Cavs when he started his rookie season, but it’s adding a ton of interest in the league, and the Lakers are about to get the usual media coverage that I was used to growing up.”

Thompson’s reaction falls in line with his teammates as Draymond Green, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant have all voiced support for James in his decision to join the Lakers. It is a move that shakes things up a bit while making the Western Conference even more competitive with arguably the best player in the league joining the fray.

The move by James has now potentially put the Lakers in the position to make a significant step forward this upcoming season with the team being primed to break their franchise-long five-year playoff drought while pushing to possibly further than that. Thompson believes that the presence of the four-time league MVP should see Los Angeles experience some vast improvement.

“Well, the times we’ve seen him he’s always been at the top of the East during the Finals,” Thompson said. “And those games are always intense. I expect him to greatly improve the Lakers and they’ve obviously got a bunch of guys who are proven now. So I just expect it to be intense. Any time you play against arguably the best player in the world, no matter what sport, you want to measure yourself against him so you play as hard as you can, and that’s why guys like Steph [Curry], KD [Kevin Durant], Kobe [Bryant], LeBron, James Harden, any [top] guys face their opponent’s best game every night, so it will be no different when we play the Lakers.”

All of this should set the table for some highly entertaining matchups between the two franchise this upcoming season that will begin with their first of two preseason tilts on Wednesday night. There is plenty of star power involved that could make for some must-watch tv this upcoming campaign.
