San Antonio Spurs fans are known for their loyalty, but if you turn on them, they will never forget.

Nor will they forgive, apparently, especially less than one season removed from reports their franchise’s star player at the time, Kawhi Leonard, wanted out of the Lone Star State.

The NBA All-Star and Southern California native was verbally destroyed by the crowd on Thursday night in his Toronto Raptors debut at the AT&T Center:

A pre-deadline trade sent Leonard and Danny Green to the Toronto Raptors for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick.

The trade has been somewhat of a success on both sides, as DeRozan has proven to be every bit the All-Star caliber talent he’s established himself as, while Leonard has become a key piece of Toronto’s bid for an Eastern Conference title.

Leonard is in the final year of his contract and faces free agency at the conclusion of the season, where speculation has it that he’s interested in joining the Los Angeles Clippers.

Either way, it’s certain that fans in Texas don’t mess around when they feel slighted.
