LA JOLLA — The Farmers Insurance Open is underway as tee times began at 7 a.m. local time with K.J. Choi and Scott Brown sharing the lead. While the leaders will start off the No. 1 tee at 9 a.m. PT, the majority of the field has teed off under adverse conditions.
Winds in upwards of 50 mph are expected in the area at some point on Sunday, while steady rain has already begun to fall. The conditions, if play is allowed to continue, should make for an interesting Day 4, although Monday remains a possibility should conditions prevent play from continuing.
There’s plenty of action, despite the poor weather. We’ll be following the action all day long. Follow us on @SportsWest1 for live updates throughout the day.
Kevin Streelman is off to a solid start already, nothing a birdie on his opening hole and creeping to within two shots of the co-leaders. Gary Woodland and Jimmy Walker are one shot back at 8-under.
