LA JOLLA — UPDATE: The final round will commence on Monday at 8 a.m.
Play has been suspended for the third time as of 1:57 p.m. PT and it seems unlikely that it will resume today. Players on their final hole had the option of finishing.
Heavy winds and rain continue to wreak havoc at the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open.
Play was suspended at approximately 8:26 a.m. PT and once again at approximately 10:30 due to inclement weather. Though the entire field has started Round 4, the leaders have only finished two holes with play still suspended.
K.J. Choi and Scott Brown both remain at 9-under par. Each has recorded a bogey in the final round. Not only will it be a difficult day for PGA TOUR officials to contend with from a weather standpoint, but the course could become a hazard for spectators with its numerous trees as wind threatens to dismantle branches and cause a potential hazard.
In short, this day is not going to be easy for anyone, and it’s likely that Monday becomes the final day of the event. Whoever emerges victorious at the end of the day and is left standing will certainly have earned it. Currently, 10 players are within three shots of the lead.
