Chargers face embarrassing optics in Los Angeles after 4 games

The Los Angeles Chargers are reeling, and not just because they’re 0-4.

According to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times, the Chargers game against the New York Giants has been relegated to Channel 13. For those unfamiliar with mainstream Los Angeles-area programming, it’s the equivalent of network television purgatory.

It was always going to be this way from the moment the Bolts decided it was the best thing for the organization to uproot itself from San Diego. The debacle on the field during the Chargers’ 26-24 loss on Sunday, Oct. 1 was nothing compared to the disturbing optics of what took place outside the white lines.

Philadelphia Eagles fans, like their Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins counterparts before them, were successful in turning Carson’s StubHub Center into a proverbial West Coast version of their home stadiums. Philip Rivers remarked that the Oakland Raiders’ 2016 visit to Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego — its’ de facto lame duck season — was a road game

He was right, and now that sorry situation will be multiplied eight times over.
