Barrett and Schmid on Sounders FC vs FC Dallas matchup

Tukwila, Wash.–The Seattle Sounders host FC Dallas in the second leg of their playoff encounter on Monday night. Via video, forward Chad Barrett and head coach Sigi Schmid provided their thoughts on the upcoming matchup.

The teams tied 1-1 in the first leg with a first-half penalty kick conversion from Dallas defender Michel. Seattle evened the score in the second half with an important away goal from midfielder Osvaldo Alonso.

In 2014, Major League Soccer decided to follow international rules by recognizing away goals as a tiebreaker in the two-match playoff series. If the teams play to a scoreless draw on Monday, Seattle would move on.

In a exclusive, Barrett compared this Seattle team with the 2011 LA Galaxy side that won the MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield. This season Seattle’s already won the Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup.

Head coach Sigi Schmid provided a scouting report on FC Dallas. Schmid also noted the need for his defense to stop a team motivated to score one away goal.
