Carlos Hyde has always compared himself to Frank Gore. Now, the newest San Francisco 49ers running back will get a chance to see Gore up close as he prepares for his rookie season.
“I really pay attention to Frank Gore,” said Hyde. “That’s a guy who even before I got drafted I was already comparing myself to -– him and Marshawn Lynch. Because those guys are relentless with the ball and they run tough.”
“The last thing I was thinking was that I would be on the same team, but it was great to see him working out there and be around him.”
Hyde looks to be the heir apparent to Gore, who is in the final year of his contract. At 31 years old, it’s likely this could be Gore’s final season in San Francisco. Regardless, Hyde is excited to get the opportunity to learn from the 49er legend for as long as he can.
“Being able to watch Frank Gore and being able to have an opportunity to learn from him is awesome,” Hyde said. “Not too many people get to learn from a guy who’s probably going to the Hall of Fame. I’m going to really pay attention to him and take notes.”
