The Los Angeles Lakers have now officially landed All-Star forward LeBron James on a four-year, $153 million deal that has put him in place for the long haul.

With that territory comes him playing alongside the team’s promising young core group that has brought forth much optimism around the franchise’s long-term future. During an interview on Spectrum SportsNet’s “Connected With,” president of basketball operations Magic Johnson voiced that James is excited about the chance to play alongside their slew of young talent. Oh yeah, he’s very excited. That’s who he is. Rob and I want gym rats, we want guys who love to play the game. Guys who love to compete, they love to win, they love to sweat … and that’s what we got, everything rolled into one with LeBron. He knows he can take these young guys and really work on their skill set, their mindset, their approach to the game, their work ethic. And he’s already rubbing off on them and really has not gotten together with them yet. So when you have the greatest player in the world come join your organization, it raises everybody’s level of play.”

The Lakers have a group of young players with forwards Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram along with guards Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart that have each shown flashes of promise to be high-impact players down the line. The addition of James could help them gain that tutelage and guidance needed to help them get to that next stage of development.

The opportunity to play with arguably the best player in the league that throughout his career helped elevate the play of his teammates to another level. James has the strong reputation for his work ethic and a tremendous amount of experience over his illustrious career.

Los Angeles has a bright future ahead with their young core group lead by James for what could be a highly entertaining 2018-19 season.
