The Los Angeles Lakers have become an extremely busy team ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline looking into possible moves. This now apparently includes gauging the interest around the league for veteran guard Nick Young, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein

The 31-year-old is in the midst of one of his better campaigns averaging 13.8 points per game while hitting a career-best 41.3 percent from beyond the arc. He is tied for 10th in the NBA in three-point field goals made (147) along with holding the seventh highest percent in the league among players who have hit 100-plus 3-pointers.

Young has also set the franchise record for 36 made 3-pointers over an eight-game span in January. He has registered double-figure scoring 32 times with ten 20-point performances this season.

The Lakers’ decision to make Young available falls in line with their previous move that sent Lou Williams to the Houston Rockets earlier in the week in exchange for 2017 first round pick and Corey Brewer. The focus of the organization has been to acquire additional assets to help build around the young promising core of the team.

Young could be a valuable piece for another team as a proven scorer either off the bench or in the starting lineup. He has revitalized his career under first-year head coach Luke Walton taking up a prominent role in their offense.

Young is currently in the third year of a four-year, $21.4 million deal, which contains a player option for next season worth $5.6 million.
