The Los Angeles Lakers could be in the mix to sign pending free agent Lebron James, according to Stephen A. Smith.
James, fresh off a title with the Cleveland Cavaliers, could entertain leaving his hometown via free agency again. Smith said he heard it is a huge possibility that James leaves Cleveland.
@Jdilla26 All the major ones are considering it bro. That money. That market. And Kobe is gone. I’m just telling you what they’re saying.

The Lakers are connected to James because of the franchise’s home in the No. 2 market and the void left by the retirement of Kobe Bryant.
The Miami Heat could also get into the James’ sweepstakes. Smith said Miami has some clean-up duty to do after James left South Beach the first time.
Either way, it remains impossible to predict what James will do in free agency. No one thought he would leave Cleveland for Miami. He again shocked the world by leaving the Heat for the Cavs.
Even Smith admitted he had no idea what James would do, rather Smith was just reporting what he heard.
Now that James fulfilled a promise of winning a championship in Cleveland, everyone will deal with another James soap-opera in free agency.
James lead Cleveland to a 93-89 road win in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. His Cavaliers became the first team to ever win a Finals series after trailing 3 games to one.
James averaged 29.7 points, 8.9 assists and 11.3 rebounds on his way to winning a unanimous Finals MVP vote.
