Christine Michael returning to Seattle

Another day, another signing. After inking J’Marcus Webb to a contract earlier in the week, the Seattle Seahawks have made another move on the offensive side of the ball. On Thursday it was announced that the team had come to terms with running back Christine Michael. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Drafted in the second round of 2013 draft, Michael has primarily served as a back-up to Marshawn Lynch. With Lynch now retired, his role shouldn’t change much as it’s expected that Thomas Rawls will serve as the Seahawks primary back in 2016. With Michael back in the fold, the only running back from 2015 that is not currently on the roster is Fred Jackson. Signed last offseason, Jackson rushed for 100 yards on 26 attempts as he was mostly relegated to third downs.

It’s yet to be seen whether or not the team plans to resign Jackson, but if they do, he’ll bring veteran leadership to a position that has gotten younger this offseason. However, If they don’t, expect them to look towards the draft to fill out the backfield.
