Kearse resigns with the Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are keeping one of their own. On Thursday it was announced that the team and wide receiver Jermaine Kearse had agreed to a new three year deal worth 13.5 million. The agreement comes as a little bit of a surprise as the general consensus was that Kearse would be leaving the team once free agency opened on Wednesday. Whatever circumstances occurred between then and now that allowed this deal to take place is anyones’ guess, but fans in Seattle are surely pleased with the outcome.

With the return of Kearse, Seattle is able to keep most of their offense in tact (guard J.R. Sweezy was lost to Tampa Bay) as they look to improve upon a unit that was firing on all cylinders at the end of last season. The signing also allows the Seahawks to shift their focus on retaining Russell Okung and improving the rest of the line, perhaps through the draft.

Thought to be lost before free agency began, Seattle and Kearse surprise fans in the Pacific Northwest by coming to a mutual agreement.
