After being fired early on in the week by the New England Patriots, offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo has found a new job. On Thursday, the San Diego Chargers brought DeGuglielmo aboard.
While many fans may question the hire, especially after this past weekends’ performance by the Patriots offensive line, they can rest easy as DeGuglielmo will be joined by former Minnesota Vikings assistant Jeff Davidson. Having two offensive line coaches should help out the Chargers o-line tremendously as they have struggled in the pass few seasons, mainly due to health issues.
The two men’s first order of business will be to figure out the best five guys to protect Philip Rivers. Luckily, they do have a couple pieces in D.J. Fluker and Chris Watt. If they can get this unit into shape and on the field, it should go a long way in terms of helping the Chargers return to the playoffs.
Only time will tell.
