DeMarcus Cousins injury: Kings center has strained Achilles,’ per report

Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins suffered a strained right Achilles’ injury in a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night, according to CSNBayArea.com

The mercurial big man is listed as day-to-day, with no definite timetable for his return. He sustained the injury during the second quarter and did not return.

In three contests in the 2015-16 season, Cousins has averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 42 percent from the field.

Sacramento is off until Tuesday, when it will face the Memphis Grizzlies at Sleep Train Arena. It would be no surprise if he misses some time since the Kings will likely want to ensure he’s fully healthy before returning. Cousins is the anchor of a revamped lineup that features Rajon Rondo, Rudy Gay, Darren Collison and rookie Willie Cauley-Stein

The team is 1-2 through Sunday and sits at third place in the Pacific Division behind the Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers.
