Oakland Raiders complete coaching staff with former Raider Rod Woodson

Oakland Raiders new head coach Jack Del Rio finished up putting the final touches to his coaching staff for the upcoming season. It was highlighted by the signing of Pro Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson who will serve as the team’s assistant defensive backs coach.

Woodson will be a great addition to Jack Del Rio’s already impressive coaching staff as he adds another coach with a winning pedigree. Woodson has made three Super Bowl appearances and has won one with the Baltimore Ravens in 2001.

He will bring familiarity and continuity to the organization as he was a former Raider and also having worked with Del Rio in Denver. Not only that, he will be able to work with his former teammate Charles Woodson, to help solidify a shaky secondary, in hopes of ending a playoff drought that has lasted over a decade.

Fun Fact: Rod Woodson, Charles Woodson and Sebastian Janikowski are the last Raiders to make a playoff appearance on the team (Superbowl XXXVII, 2003).
