Los Angeles Angels Tickets Against A’s 7% Below Season Average

For most of the season the Oakland Athletics have been the best team in baseball. While they still lead the league in run differential by a wide margin at +165, they no longer own the league’s best record. Instead that distinction belongs to AL West rival Los Angeles Angels, which means the A’s would be a wild card team if the season ended today. But the A’s are the next team on the Angels schedule, with the two teams playing a four-game set at Angel Stadium. A good series for the A’s could place them back in first in the division and the league. Los Angeles Angels tickets are averaging $44.45 for the series on the secondary market, which is down seven percent from their season average.

8/28 OAK Sonny Gray vs. LAA C.J. Wilson | Avg. Price: $25 | Get-in Price: $7

The first start of the series for the Angels goes to C.J. Wilson. That helps explain why ticket prices are the cheapest of the series with the average price at $25 and the get-in price at $7. Wilson was a free agent signing for the Angels a couple seasons ago and, while he played well at the start of his contract, he has been the team’s worst starter this year. He’s walking over four batters per nine innings, while putting up a 4.45 ERA, 4.32 FIP and 0.6 WAR in 141.2 innings.

8/29 OAK Jon Lester vs. LAA Jered Weaver | Avg. Price: $56.68 | Get-in Price: $13

Another pitcher who has struggled this season for the Angels is Jered Weaver. He has been the team’s ace, and one of the better pitchers in the league, for most of his career. This season he has a solid ERA at 3.72, but the rest of his numbers are pretty bad. He has a 4.25 FIP, a 1.3 WAR in a team-leading 174.1 innings, all while allowing the most home runs on the team by a healthy margin. But the game is the most expensive of the series thanks to a promotion that gives fans a vintage Angels shirt upon arriving at the ballpark. The average price for Angels vs Athletics tickets is $56.68 and the get-in price is $13.

8/30 OAK Scott Kazmir vs. LAA TBD | Avg. Price: $56.13 | Get-in Price: $13

There is no starter announced for the Angels just yet, but we do know this game will have a fireworks show after. That, plus the Saturday game date has made this almost as expensive as Friday’s game. The average price of the game is $56.13 with a $13 get-in price, just cents apart from what the second game of the series costs. Scott Kazmir gets the start for the A’s, and he has completely resurrected his career. He’s been almost as good as Sonny Gray for the A’s, posting a 2.7 WAR to Gray’s 2.8, a 3.08 ERA to Gray’s 3.00, and a 3.41 FIP to Gray’s 3.42.

8/31 OAK Jeff Samardzija vs. LAA Matt Shoemaker | Avg. Price: $40 | Get-in Price: $7

Matt Shoemaker gets the final start for the Angels, and he might be their best healthy starter. He has the best walk and strikeout rate on the team, and is second on the team with a 2.0 WAR in 16 starts. He also has the second best ERA at 3.19 and FIP at 2.91. Only Garrett Richards has been a better pitcher for the Angels, and he was recently ruled out for the rest of the season. The average price of the game is $40 and the get-in price is $7.
