Los Angeles Lakers big man Dwight Howard will play on Sunday night after missing the team’s last three games with a shoulder injury, according to Time Warner Cable Sports Net.
Howard suffered the shoulder injury during a Jan. 6 loss to the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center but played through the injury. He was in obvious pain throughout the night as he finished with 14 points and a season best 26 rebounds. The Lakers have missed his presence inside as they have lost all three games without him.
Injuries have plagued the Lakers this season. The news of Howard’s injury comes as one in a barrage of others in Los Angeles. Pau Gasol, Steve Blake, Howard and Jordan Hill are all dealing with health issues with Hill out for the season as he prepares to undergo hip surgery.
The Lakers frontcourt has been decimated, and Howard’s presence will be a big boost for Los Angeles as they try to turn things around following a six-game win streak vs. Cleveland.
